How to do multi scenes in Shake? - like how to do the count down

Yes, something like a switcher. I am new in Shake, I've just learnt basic techniques such as keylight, color correct, render, rotoshape and I'm still not fully sure about all that shake can do, can it cut and mark clips? For example, I have 2 clips with different durations, one with BG and one with greenscreen, I want to shorten one to fit another.
Another question is how to switch one scene to another?
