Hello human! ( are we the aliens ? )
First, since you're an architect, we invite you to contribute to te thread in our forum where we discuss about Houdini's use in the architectural world.

Needless to say, the Procedural Modeling of Cities DVD will be the perfect tool to begin with architecture in Houdini ( see the thread).
As to begin with Houdini, just have a look at sidefx.com and odforce.net. Then when i have more time, i will be able to give you more precise advices.
