I have gotten SOOOO many messages about toxik this week.

Ive installed it and im thinking i now need the antidote.

How does toxic stand up to fusion or shake? Are they even comparable?

I have used it a little bit.

It lacks 3d text and particles that fusion and flame both have.

Its missing some nodes that make shake and fusion very powerful, but they are closing that gap up.

My problem with toxik is that Autodesk does not want you to use it like flame... they want to charge you the price of a flame for that work.. so they are purposely governing the hardware and software to keep it for average compositing. I personally thinks its obtrusive... although i once thought flame was laid out all wrong until i started to really use it for a while.

Again, shake and fusion will get the job done faster with out all the uneeded gui that toxik has. There are some really annoying things in there..... BUT if your a MAX user... it has some real benefits. Same with EXR. I think you should try it out yourself without a demo person showng you why its cool. then and only then can you feel for yourself if you like it or not.

the installation docs are available right from the autodesk support site.

Depsite typical linux installations.. its pretty straight forward.

(Albeit, a little overkill for such a seemingly simple thing)

I mean, i bet everyone misses the ol' double click to install an application days.

i know i sure do.

but then i guess all those tech support people would be out of a job Wink
