TO COMPETITORS STEALING OUR PROJECTSTO COMPETITORS STEALING OUR PROJECTS:Ok, there is a limit to flattery. There are several of our projects for several products that are completely ripped of from our content. I am now offering free products to anyone that spots theft in our tutorials and training from other companies. (You must supply us a link or screengrab) AND YES, if they stole our content and used it for another product, its still ripped off. So watch out for these hacks and recieve a reward. Post all your findings in this forum. I want everyone to see it. NOTE: If you are going to steal from us, at least do it right. If you can't do it right, then please leave the game. We design our content for professionals so don't dumb it down by making an informal cheap copy that misses all the points of the content. Its ignorant. cmiStaff |

I wouldn't exacly call this stealing, but in the new trailer for the movie the perfume, if you go towards the end when the title is presented, you'll notice it looks pretty similar to the paint distortion (wheter it be fusion or shake). Just thought it would be interresting to post this, but I don't think it's considered a rip-off...although it looks pretty similar, without much variation from your tutorial.

production artists are welcomeSteve, perhaps a similarity. BUT NO PROBLEM SINCE they re using it in a production. Thats what cmi is for. To learn and get your work to the silver screen.The problem with theft is the other training companies out there. Most woulddnt even guess this but, 10 % of the visual FX schools in the untied states are using CMIVFX dvd's as there lesson plans and spreading it out over 13 weeks and charging 15,ooo.oo dollars for it. Its the blatent use of our intellectual property that has inspired this forum. I had some interesting ones come in from the email system. NYU, PRATT, ACADMEY OF ART, TYLER, and the list goes on... ALL of them using cmi DVD's as lesson plans. There will be more listed here. im not going to remove this forum until the public knows what they are OVER PAYING for. (Not to mention, lots of the trainers are butchering my lessons) -c |

Ah I think I just posted in the forum section of the forum. I didn't necessarily mean they stole you're effect, I mean that is what you're here for (inspiration and technique teaching), I just found it particular that they used it almost out of the box. But it's surprising to hear that reputable schools are doing that. |
